Checkout should ask only what is needed to fulfill the selected catalog. Open Catalog settings, choose the catalog, and use Checkout or Operations to configure the flow.
For a short everyday menu, keep checkout focused on contact and fulfillment. For catering, use conditional questions so delivery details appear only when the buyer chooses delivery.
Quick facts
Start here
- Checkout questions are catalog-specific and can be reordered with drag and drop.
- Conditional questions can depend on another response, such as showing delivery address only for Delivery.
- Taxes are selected per ordering location, so one catalog can use different local tax components.
- Payment integrations remain tenant-owned: connect Square or Stripe before enabling card payments.
- Square Rewards and Square gift cards use Square as the system of record; Farin does not create a second loyalty balance.
Keep the first checkout step short
- Use the default name, email, phone, fulfillment method, date, and notes fields only when they are relevant to the catalog.
- Use a compact cart summary on the first step, then let the buyer continue to a dedicated checkout step for longer catering questions.
- Turn on the newsletter opt-in only when the catalog has a clear permission-based email program. It is selected by default, but the customer can turn it off.
Add conditional questions for real-world fulfillment
Create the parent question
Add a single-choice question such as Pickup or delivery with values Pickup and Delivery.
Keep the question required when every order needs an explicit fulfillment choice.
Reveal dependent fields only when needed
Add Delivery address, set its dependency to Pickup or delivery = Delivery, and leave it hidden for pickup orders.
Use the same pattern for pickup location, headcount, dietary restrictions, event date, and event time. Buyers see a shorter form and fewer irrelevant fields.
Configure money, rewards, and fulfillment
- In Taxes, select one or more applicable tax components for each ordering location. Do not assign a component to a location where it is not valid.
- In Tips, choose the default percentage and the options the customer can select. Keep the default aligned with the service model.
- In Payments, set a default method. One method renders directly; multiple methods render as clear choices rather than an opaque select menu.
- In Delivery, connect Uber Direct, choose the lowest-cost or fastest policy, and decide whether the customer, company, or a fixed company allowance pays the delivery fee. DoorDash Drive is temporarily paused while Farin finalizes platform onboarding and tenant billing.
- When Square Rewards is enabled, look up the customer by phone, show available rewards, enroll by default when allowed, and award or redeem only after a successful checkout.
- Use Square gift card lookup and redemption only with a connected Square account. Keep the balance and redemption state in Square.
- 1 This catalog-specific section controls visibility, checkout, tips, tax, payment, and notifications.
- 2 Keep the catalog and optional customer tips on only when this catalog should accept those actions.
- 3 Set the default tip and the percentage options customers can choose.
- 4 Add accounting tax components, then choose the applicable combination for each location override.
- 5 Checkout Questions & Custom Fields is where you add and reorder the fields buyers actually need.
