Farin treats Square as the system of record for the Square-connected parts of the experience. Connect Square through Accounting automation, then choose the destination catalog from Catalogs before importing.
Keep the destination explicit. Importing into the wrong catalog is avoidable when you select the catalog first and confirm it in the import panel.

Step 1: Connect Square safely

- 4 Refresh schedules from Square after changing location hours or time zones there.
Open the shared Square connection flow
Open Accounting automation and start the Square connection flow.
Complete authorization in Square, then return to Farin. The browser shows connection status and safe metadata; access tokens are never needed in a product or catalog form.
Link from a catalog setting when needed
When a Square-related setting detects no connection, use Link Square to open the same authorization flow in a modal. You do not need to leave the catalog page to finish setup.
Step 2: Import into the intended catalog
- Open Catalogs and select the destination catalog before opening Square Sync.
- Choose the Square source catalog and the locations to make available. If there is one active Square location, customers are not forced through a location picker.
- Import products, variations, modifiers, categories, images, hours, and location overrides. Review the resulting table before making the catalog public.
- If an import reports a conflict, fix the duplicate or missing mapping and run the sync again. Do not create a second catalog just to work around a conflict.
Step 3: Understand ongoing sync
- Farin can receive Square-side updates through webhooks and scheduled synchronization. The schedule is a safety net for missed events and longer-running changes.
- Changes made in Farin to Square-linked fields should use the catalog sync path so the corresponding Square item or variation is updated intentionally.
- After syncing, spot-check the selected location, price, stock, modifier options, image, and public storefront before a busy service period.
- Use Orders to verify the selected location and the Square order status after a test checkout.
