Import Square history safely before go-live
Use the import step carefully so history comes in with clean mapping and without creating a giant cleanup project right before launch.
History import is worth doing carefully, not quickly.
It is better to import a smaller clean window than a large messy one right before go-live.
Quick facts
Start here
- Mapping should be reviewed before the big history import.
- Small test windows are safer than a full backfill on the first attempt.
- Import review is part of launch prep, not an afterthought.
Step 1: Test on a narrow history window
- Use Square Import on a small range first.
- Review the result before you widen the import scope.
Step 2: Backfill only after the test looks clean
- If the narrow test behaves well, extend the history window.
- If not, fix the mapping or account setup before you bring in more data.
