Open Accounting Audit Trail to search the recorded history for accounting changes. Use it to trace who or what made a captured change and compare the saved before-and-after values.
The trail only covers activity from the history coverage start shown on the page. It does not reconstruct earlier edits or replace the transaction, bank-feed, or reconciliation workflows.
Quick facts
Start here
- Filters include recorded date, actor, source, action, record type, record ID, transaction ID, reconciliation session ID, and record reference.
- Select a recorded event to inspect its actor, source, reason when available, affected records, and captured before-and-after field values.
- Use Load more for additional events or changes, and Export CSV to download the filtered event list.
- History starts at the coverage start displayed on the page; automation rules, mapping settings, and upstream payroll records are outside the current coverage.
Find the change
Set the narrowest useful filters
Open Accounting Audit Trail. Set a time range first, then add an actor, source, action, record type, or ID if you know it. Use Transaction ID, Reconciliation session ID, or Record reference to narrow the search to a specific workflow.
Choose Apply filters to run the search. Choose Clear to reset all filters and reload the history.
Read the event list
The list shows when an event was recorded, its action, actor, source, and affected record count and types. Select the recorded time to load that event’s details. Choose Load more when more matching events are available.
Inspect the event and export the results
In Event details, review the actor, source, reason, transaction or reconciliation session link, and attribution quality when those fields are present. For each affected record, compare the captured Before and After values. Some changes have no field-level values on this page.
Choose Export CSV to download the current filtered event list. The export is useful for review and follow-up; open the source transaction or workflow to make or verify a correction.
- For journal entries and sales or payout posting, use Record journals, sales, payouts, and memorized transactions.
- For statement matches and reconciliation decisions, use Reconcile statements and resolve exceptions.
- For imported accounting documents, use Review imported automation documents and fix exceptions.
When no history appears
Check coverage and filters
If no changes match, clear filters or expand the date range. If history capture has not started, the page says so. The audit trail cannot show edits made before its displayed coverage start.
